Serving Google Image Tiles from CDN

My next challenge is to make my map search load faster.

Does anybody know if it is possible to serve Google Map Tiles from a CDN?

You're not going to find a CDN that is faster than Google's infrastructure. They already serve the tiles from their geo-distributed infrastructure.

Would or should *.tiles.virtualearth.net be considered a CDN if that is the case?

Sorry, I didn't look close enough - Those are Microsoft's map tiles ;-) I'll take a look but it is also likely to be served through a CDN, just not being detected.
