First byte speed in the dumps :(

Hey Guys, So glad I found this site and great to see it has forums!!

Not only is my site overall speed bad but the first byte speed is painful. I have seen it drop to 2.9s at best which is still pretty bad after comparing other sites.

Any help would be great.

First, compress all the images using tinypng.com for example. Second increase memory for php, tuning up mysql...
